The 4th Sunday of Easter is known as Good Shepherd Sunday.
In John 10:11-18, we hear the parable of the Good Shepherd, proclaimed. The Gospel Acclamation from John 10:14 exclaims, “I am the good shepherd, says the Lord; I know my sheep, and mine know me.” A shepherd leads, feeds, nurtures, comforts, corrects, and protects his flock.
We are His flock who need spiritual food, healing, care and mercy. Jesus, our Good Shepherd, was willing to die for those who put their faith in Him. To be in the Lord’s flock is to be in a safe, life-changing transformative relationship with Jesus. May we hear and know the voice of Jesus and live to give glory to God.
Let us meditate today on Psalm 23:1 “The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.” Amen.
